A common treatment that I have been aiding Doctor Ryan Rushton on treating is calluses. The shaving of calluses is very important, excessive buildup of calluses can begin to bring pain to an individuals foot. It may also lead to a sore occurring underneath the callus. These sores for diabetics can lead to potential amputations of toes, sometimes if bad enough the entire foot. This is why it is improtant for all people, especially diabetics, to shave their calluses and cut them down. Prevent injury and potential amputation.https://lnkd.in/d_-7XGhT

UNDERSTANDING EAR PAIN:EXPLORING THE LINK BETWEEN THROAT AND EARWhen it comes to ear pain, the throat plays a significant role. Conditions such as tonsillitis, pharyngitis, or ear infections can cause discomfort that radiates to the ears.Picture this: when you swallow, your throat muscles contract, which can sometimes affect the Eustachian tube—the canal that connects the middle ear to the back of the throat. If this tube becomes blocked or swollen due to throat inflammation, it can lead to ear pain.To know more, consult with our ENT specialist today at MEDICON Clinic, Gurugram Book your appointment today! Acute Lateral Ankle Sprains: To boot or not to boot? We've seen time and time again that prolonged immobilisation is detrimental to rehabilitation following an acute lateral ankle sprain (LAS). BUT... don't throw the baby out with the bath water!Preventing further damage to the healing ligament is crucial in the first 1-3 weeks following injury. Premature mobilisation during this time may prolong the formation of type 3 collagen- which is not ideal for healing. The below 2023 analytical literature review discussed that a short 5-10 day immobilisation period in an air-cast after more severe LAS's seemed to enhance recovery by avoiding lengthening of the injured ligament and letting the body's natural healing processes take place. Note: It is imperative that progressive mobilisation begins after this short period of immobilisation. I have certainly found myself utilising this strategy in higher grade LAS's. Especially those patients with a tendency to over mobilise and re-injure their ankle during this acute phase! Does your management of acute ankle sprains align with this? What's your experience?

As podiatrists, sometimes we are the first to inform patients about how their flat feet (especially in younger children) or frequent ankle sprains are due to ligament laxity.Ligamentous laxity refers to an abnormal increased flexibility in the ligaments, which are the connective tissues that stabilize joints. This condition can lead to joint instability, increased range of motion, and a higher risk of dislocations or injuries. It may be congenital (present from birth) or acquired due to trauma, overuse, or certain medical conditions such as Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. If left untreated, it may lead to injuries, muscle weakness and fatigue, and early osteoarthritis.

The presentation on soft tissue injuries and fractures of the forearm, wrist, and hand provides a comprehensive overview of common injuries affecting these regions. It begins by detailing various types of injuries, including sprains, strains, and lacerations, as well as specific fractures such as Colles' and Smith's fractures. The presentation emphasizes the mechanisms of injury, often related to falls, sports activities, or accidents, and highlights the clinical symptoms that accompany these injuries, such as pain, swelling, and reduced mobility. 🏃♂️🤕In terms of management, the PPT outlines both conservative and surgical approaches. Conservative management typically includes rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE) ❄️🛌, along with immobilization using splints or casts for fractures. The presentation also discusses rehabilitation strategies that focus on restoring range of motion and strength through physical therapy. For more severe cases, particularly complex fractures or those with associated soft tissue damage, surgical intervention may be necessary. Surgical options are discussed, including internal fixation and the use of plates or screws to stabilize the bones. ⚙️💪Finally, the presentation addresses the importance of early diagnosis and appropriate treatment in ensuring optimal recovery and function. It emphasizes the role of healthcare professionals in monitoring the healing process and adjusting treatment plans as needed. The PPT concludes with a discussion on the long-term outcomes of forearm, wrist, and hand injuries, highlighting the significance of patient education and preventive measures to reduce the risk of future injuries. 📈📚 Overall, the content serves as a valuable resource for understanding the complexities of managing these common but impactful injuries.#SoftTissueInjury #Fractures #InjuryManagement #SportsMedicine #Rehabilitation #PhysicalTherapy #MedicalEducation #Healthcare #InjuryPrevention#ForearmInjuries #HandInjuries #Orthopedics #PatientEducation #WristInjuries #RecoveryJourney
