I've got a lot of reading to do to figure out what these are and may have to try some of these. WoW! I really must have lived a sheltered life! 😲

President Biden seen boarding Air Force One here in fabulous Las Vegas on 17 July, 2024. He was spotted at a local Mexican restaurant hours after getting yet another covid diagnosis shaking hands, hugging and kissing supporters all without wearing a mask 😷 The betting markets are more convinced than ever that President Biden will not be the Democrat who will ultimately take on former President Trump in November's election, as pressure builds for the president to step aside for another candidate.As of Thursday afternoon, oddsmakers here in fabulous Las Vegas gave Biden only a 22% chance of becoming the Democratic Party's nominee. Those are the lowest chances Biden has had and his odds of staying in appear in freefall after a flurry of reports over the past 24 hours that top Democrats are urging the president to drop out.Vice President Kamala Harris is now favored to top the ticket, with her odds of becoming the presidential nominee sitting at some 62%.

I disagree with today's ruling clearing actor Alex Baldwin of involuntary manslaughter charges in the shooting death on the set of his movie 'Rust'. His high priced lawyers (who previously have defended Elon Musk) got him off and got the case thrown out. I found the following account of handing weapons on movie sets very interesting and shows how things SHOULD have gone. Literally NONE of this happened on the Rust set---> "I am an actor, firearms instructor and former on-set armorer. The rules are pretty clear on how to hand a weapon over to an actor.You can read them here if you'd like - https://lnkd.in/ga8z8H7WThe armorer is supposed to hand it over to the actor (not a third party intermediary), who is then responsible for it, only after the actor has had the required training on how to safely handle a firearm on set. The actor should not, under any circ*mstances, let anyone else other than the armorer take the gun from them at any time. The armorer should show the weapon to be safe when handing it over, and the actor should be taught how to show the weapon safe when handing it back.On our sets, we would have a second or a third pair of eyes also at the handovers to ensure that the weapon is safe. Any cast or crew who were required to stand near the actor or be in close proximity during the scene were always invited to witness the gun being handed over and shown to be safe and were required to be part of the 'walkthrough' safety briefing beforehand. One of the most important aspects of this safety meeting are where the firearm is to be pointed in the scene.I have had arguments from Assistant Directors (AD) who have wanted to take the gun from me to hand to the actor without following basic protocols. At the time I reminded them of what happened on the set of 'The Crow', as this was before 'Rust'. The rules are in place to ensure the safety of everyone.After this hand-over, the actor should not point the weapon at anyone unless and until told to do so by the director in the context of the scene being shot. And this should only be done after consultation with the armorer prior to the scene, as part of the safety walkthrough.After the scene is shot, the armorer would take the weapon from the actor, check it and secure it.We had a policy that firearms should not be used in rehearsals, but if they were, at no point should the trigger be pulled.At no point should the armorer have live ammunition on set. There is literally no need for it at all and it is against the agreed upon rules and regulations. The rounds should be loaded immediately before the scene and usually would be removed immediately afterwards.Even so, a firearm should always be considered live and treated with the corresponding due care and respect.All of this is common sense and none of it is controversial and I would hope that many other firearms users not in the industry would see the sense in these precautions."

RIP Redbox. The DVD kiosk business will shut down and fire 1,000 people. It's probably been about 10 years since the last time I used them. The business' parent company, Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment, received court approval on Wednesday to change its bankruptcy filing from Chapter 11 to Chapter 7, with plans to liquidate its assets and lay off 1,000 employees.Redbox was founded in 2002 as a McDonald's experiment and later became its own business, capitalizing on the popularity of DVDs and the convenience of its cheap rental system.Customers could go up to one of the kiosks in 2009 and rent a DVD for $1 a day, with each machine holding as many as 700 DVDs and 200 movie titles. One of its kiosks could earn about $50,000 annually in revenue after three years of operation, according to a 2009 L.A. Times report.However they lost some $636.6 million last year. Its Chapter 11 filing listed debts totaling $970 million and assets worth $414 million.At their peak they had 38,000 kiosks across the country. About 24,000 Redbox kiosks remain, according to bankruptcy court filings, many of them located at Walmart and Walgreen Co. stores, which are listed as unsecured creditors.

Rest in peace actress Shelly Duvall 🙏 "Despite the identical surname, actor Robert Duvall is NOT related to actress Shelley Duvall." This is not true. It's not often that I get to prove Google and the internet wrong. Turns out Robert Duvall and Shelly Duvall ARE in fact related, although distantly. They are 17th cousins. They are indeed blood relatives and both share a common ancestor, their 15th great grandmother. Thank you Geni.com for your amazing database. What's sad is Shelly Duvall passed away without ever knowing fellow actor Robert Duvall was her cousin.
