I enjoy bringing a Fujifilm Instax camera to family gatherings, days out and special occasions as everyone enjoys the fun of seeing the snaps develop instantly. The prints make a nice souvenir, whatever the occasion.
And in recent years the Fujifilm instant camera range has grown to the point that there are options for most budgets with an array of design aesthetics and three print sizes available along with hybrid models that blend analogue and digital features.

Instax Mini 41 updates the retro chic styling to its predecessor Mini 40 and offers a one-button approach to shooting. A ring around the lens control powers and sets focus and there are three settings: off, on and close-up. The optical plastic 60mm f/12.7 lens projects light directly onto the photochemical film that starts to develop as it ejects from the camera.
The Instax Mini film cartridges cost about €11 per pack of ten prints and are available in a vast range of colour and black and white options. You can save money by buying packs of 20 or 50 prints. The film has a wallet-sized image area of 45.7mm x 61mm.
You can frame your shots from behind the lens using the optical viewfinder or in front of it with a selfie mirror.
The camera uses a pair of AA batteries for power and comes with a wrist strap. You could also add a crossbody strap if you prefer.

Automatic Exposure functionality
The Automatic Exposure function automatically senses the level of ambient light when the shutter button is pressed, optimizing the shutter speed and flash output according to the scene. It allows users to produce high-quality photo prints on-the-spot in a variety of interior or exterior environments.
Close-up Mode with Parallax Correction
The mini 41’s close-up mode features Parallax Correction, which helps center close-up images (including selfies) by adjusting the position of the ‘focus’ mark to the lower left of the frame.
Instax alternatives
If you'd prefer to keep an eye on the cost of film, consider the Instax Mini Evo which is a digital hybrid that enables you to print only the photos you want as opposed to using film for every exposure with the Mini 41. Buy Instax Mini Evo for €203.
There is also an Instax Wide Evo which is a similar digital hybrid that uses the firm’s wider film prints which are 62mm x 99mm in size. Buy Instax Wide Evo for €374.
And if you want more control over the images, Instax Mini 99 allows you to control when the flash fires and set the meter to make a brighter or darker exposure. Buy Instax Mini 99 for €204.

Pricing and availability
Fujifilm’s Instax Mini 41 instant camera will be available at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of €110.00. It will be available for purchase from April 17 2025 at Fujifilm retailers nationwide.
